The Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) specializes in the post-operative care of cardiac, thoracic, and vascular patients including ECMO, VAD, and transplants. Our high acuity patient volume allows for low nurse-patient ratios promoting safety and satisfaction of patients, families, and staff. Patients are supported by a multidisciplinary team providing the latest evidence-based practice, procedural techniques, and complex surgical procedures with advanced technology.

Responsibilities
- Assists nurse with patient and family education.
- Documents all patient care activities provided with correct medical terminology.
- Acts as 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
- Ensures availability of supplies and equipment to meet each patient's needs.
- Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nursing team.
- Collects clinical data and information on patients and reports abnormal findings to the nurse.
- Instructs patients in preparations for tests and procedures.
