JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS Scheduled Weekly Hours: TBD Job Summary: Provides direct and indirect patient care in the hospital setting under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. St. Tammany Health System is an independent service district in a clinically integrated partnership with Ochsner Health System. Together, the two organizations focus on aligning their healthcare offerings to best serve patients and families in west St. Tammany Parish and surrounding areas.

Requirements

• Must be a student who is currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited, state board‑approved pre‑licensure RN program who has successfully completed at least one hospital‑based clinical rotation and must be deemed competent by the nursing program in core nursing skills, as evidenced by a completed and signed competency form.
• The nurse tech may perform procedures and/or tasks for which they have been educated and deemed competent by an accredited, state board approved pre-licensure nursing program.
• Proficient in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Current BLS certification through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association and American Red Cross required upon hire. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check-off.
• Must be available to work 12-hour day, evening and/or night shifts, as needed by Nursing.
• Must possess good physical health.
• Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time.
• Lifting at least 50 pounds is required.
• Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.

Nice To Haves

• Prefer applicants who are available to work one shift each week in a 6-week schedule, with at least 2 of those shifts being on the weekend and/or a holiday.
