About The Position

The purpose of this position is to gain knowledge of the golf course turf industry. You will work closely with the Grounds Management Team and assist them in the daily planning and execution of all turf related aspects.

Requirements

• Student Interns must be enrolled in a certificate, 2 or 4-year degree in a turf management related field.
• He or she must have reliable transportation to and from work
• Requires ability to safely operate trucks and motorized equipment
• Student Interns must be detail orientated, dependable, and accountable, possess a high degree of integrity, and have a willingness to learn.
• Student Interns will be required to: Work extended hours, which includes weekend and holiday shifts Work outside in all weather conditions Work on or near heavy machinery Stand for extended periods of time Lift a minimum of 50 pounds on a regular basis Do repetitive tasks with few breaks Complete tasks in a timely manner

Responsibilities

• Hand watering of all turf areas
• Mowing of all turf areas
• Regular bunker repair and maintenance
• Golf course set-up
• Implementation of cultural practices
• Fertilizer and Pesticide calibration and application
• Irrigation troubleshooting and maintenance
• Equipment operation
• Small crew leadership opportunities
• Exposure to small equipment repair and maintenance
