About The Position

The Energy Services Student Intern will support the Grant PUD Energy Services Department in advancing community engagement and customer outreach initiatives. This role assists with public events, educational efforts, and customer interactions to promote awareness of available programs, resources, and services. The intern will gather and document community feedback, contribute to the development and distribution of program materials, and support strategies that strengthen customer participation and program impact. This position is designed as a developmental opportunity for students pursuing degrees in communications, marketing, business, environmental studies, energy management, public administration, or related fields to gain practical experience in electric utility customer programs, community engagement, outreach strategy, and energy services operations.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior at a college or university to obtain a Bachelor’s in Communications, Marketing, Business, Energy Management, Public Administration, or related field.
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher throughout the internship and provide verification upon request
  • Maintain full-time student status for the duration of the internship and provide verification upon request

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in customer engagement events (Planning, participation, or other support)
  • Experience in program marketing and community outreach
  • Understanding of how community feedback informs program design
  • Ability and/or experience creating, administering, and documenting customer surveys
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite products
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills

Responsibilities

  • Support public facing outreach efforts, including tabling events, community meetings, and educational presentations.
  • Interact professionally with customers to answer basic program questions and direct them to appropriate resources.
  • Collect, organize, and report on community feedback to support program improvement and planning.
  • Create, maintain, and distribute up-to-date program materials.
  • Assist other internal stakeholders with event coordination, preparation, and on-site support.
  • Track outreach metrics and maintain organized documentation of engagement activities.
  • Promote teamwork and collaboration across departments and divisions.
  • Analyze outreach data and community feedback to identify trends and seek solutions for program improvement.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Grant PUD’s mission, vision, values, and strategic plan. The incumbent should be familiar with these organizational priorities and behave in a way that aligns with these expectations.
  • Understand and adhere to compliance requirements for this position that may include laws, regulations, security guidelines, Grant PUD policies, & procedures.

  • Actively participate in all aspects of our safety program, including but not limited to: Following all safety policies and procedures. Alerting supervisors and coworkers to unsafe or hazardous working conditions. Reporting any safety incidents or close calls within 24 hours to your supervisor. Accepting feedback from supervisors and coworkers regarding your own safety performance.
