About The Position

The Student Experience Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, developing, and supporting student workers across all Broadcast teams, including in venue live production, control room operations, field production for live broadcasts, content creation (video, photo, and design), and engineering roles. This position serves as the primary liaison between students, Broadcast leadership, and crewers, ensuring students receive a high quality, growth oriented experience that aligns with departmental needs. The Coordinator manages the full life cycle of the student experience—outreach, recruitment, onboarding, training coordination, scheduling oversight, feedback collection, and sustained development. This role also monitors student progress, advocates for student placement on productions, and ensures students gain exposure to a wide range of opportunities across Broadcast. Flexibility to work nights and weekends is essential, along with strong relationship building skills and the ability to foster a collaborative, student focused environment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Recruit and cultivate a well-rounded pool of students for all areas of Broadcast operations. Serve as the primary liaison between students, Broadcast leadership, crewers, and show supervisors. Coordinate onboarding and ensure completion of required student employment documentation. Maintain accurate databases for student progress and availability. Organize student training across production, content creation, and engineering roles. Monitor student schedules, track assignments, and ensure appropriate placement across productions. Advocate for students during crew scheduling and work proactively with crewers to ensure students receive meaningful and progressive opportunities. Remain in close contact with the leader of each team to stay aware of cross-departmental needs and student opportunities. Collect and synthesize feedback in a centralized manner from managers, crewers, and supervisors on student performance and development needs. Provide ongoing communication and support to students, reinforcing expectations and offering guidance for improvement. Develop and maintain strong, positive relationships with students and staff to promote retention and engagement. On call during nights and weekends as events are happening. Work effectively under tight deadlines and adapt to changing priorities. Work nights and weekends; travel as assigned. Other duties as assigned. Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner. Requirements

  • Four-year college degree in communications or related field, or equivalent work experience is required.
  • Logistics and coordination experience for live remote broadcasts.
  • 3 years’ media production experience is required.
  • Working technical knowledge of operations procedures and systems.
  • Working knowledge of production management practices and procedures.
  • To obtain LU-approved driver certification, individuals must be 21 years of age or older, possess a valid driver’s license with a minimum of five (5) years of documented driving history, and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well-articulated information.
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
  • Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Computer skills.
  • Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.
  • Frequently required to travel to campus locations and occasionally required to travel domestically or internationally.
  • Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or to serve in functions essential to the production.
  • Must possess remarkable auditory skills to accurately detect and interpret various sounds—such as pitch, tone, clarity, and spatial cues—to identify technical audio problems, maintain creative content quality, and communicate clearly with team members in fast-paced settings.
  • Must possess exceptional visual acuity, including the ability to see fine details and accurately distinguish colors, in order to carry out precise scheduling tasks.
  • Standing, walking, and climbing stairs frequently required.
  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel, or stoop to conduct business.
  • Regularly lift 50 or fewer pounds.
  • Use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) is required for travel in the performance of the essential functions of this position.
  • Proof of a valid Virginia driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Tier 3 10+ years’ media production experience is required.
