About The Position

The Student Exhibition Assistant will participate in a Business of Art and Design x Ringling Galleries INDEX Immersive project to reimagine, adapt, and install the Nothing New: Archives of Affection exhibition at the Stonewall National Monument Visitor Center (SNMVC) in New York City. This role provides hands-on experience in professional exhibition management, professional art handling, institutional collaboration, and traveling exhibition logistics. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of the job:

Requirements

  • Must have successfully completed the BOAD 455 Exhibition Design and Management course
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a professional setting
  • Interest in exhibition design, museum work, or cultural programming
  • Must be available/willing to travel to NY on May 16 to install the exhibition on-site

Responsibilities

  • Adapt exhibition materials to align with the new design concept and Stonewall’s spatial requirements
  • Communicate professionally with Stonewall staff, institutional partners, and collaborators
  • Recreate and adapt didactic, interpretive, and marketing materials for the Stonewall exhibition space
  • Coordinate and execute exhibition installation in New York City
  • Assist with art handling, packing, shipping logistics, and documentation for a traveling exhibition
  • Participate in the exhibition installation and opening in May and represent Ringling College on-site
