About The Position

This is a second shift position and will be paid a 10% shift differential for second shift hours. The Kentucky School for the Deaf ensures that deaf and hard of hearing children and youth in Kentucky have educational opportunities to develop their potential to become educated, life-long learners and productive citizens. In partnership with families, local school districts and other services providers, KSD functions as a statewide education center where students come first. Primary Role: Perform beginning level duties in providing supervision and instruction to students at the Kentucky School for the Deaf.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise students in the dorm to maintain accountability for student’s whereabouts, safety and welfare.
  • Escort and supervise students to cafeteria, recreational activities and school sponsored events.
  • Provide tutoring and homework assistance to students with varying learning styles, abilities and motivational levels.
  • Plan outings and educational programs to reinforce life skills and ASL/English mastery.
  • Supervise athletic practices, games and other school functions as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
