About The Position

For the spring semester, the College of Fine Arts is looking for detail-oriented bilingual undergraduate student employees to provide support to the Office for Community Engagement and Public Practice. We are filling 8 student positions. This position is a month-long assignment and will not exceed a total of 40 hours during the assignment period. This position offers an opportunity to develop skills in data stewardship within a public art research angle. The primary role of the Office for Community Engagement and Public Practice is to partner with community and arts organizations in Austin to assist the different members of our CoFA community in intentional and coordinated engagement with local and state-wide partners.

Requirements

  • Must be a University of Texas at Austin Undergraduate student, currently enrolled for at least 6 credit hours.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Participate in a mandatory training session which includes tips on engaging with the public, acceptable recording and use of data, and additional logistical tasks related to data collecting.
  • Bilingual: English and Spanish.
  • Willing to travel to public art sites within the city. (A personal vehicle is not required for this position. All travel related to job duties is coordinated by the department, including transportation to off‑site locations when needed.)

Responsibilities

  • Assist our office’s project by interacting with the public to record survey data, advancing the documentation of public opinion on archived public art, all while adhering to policies and procedures given at the initial required training.
  • Provide essential support by assisting with a variety of surveying tasks, contributing to the smooth operation of public opinion on public art.
