About Texas Performing Arts Texas Performing Arts (TPA) is the professional arts presenting and producing program of The University of Texas at Austin. One of the largest and most active university-based performing arts centers in the U.S., TPA is an anchor institution in Austin’s arts, cultural, and entertainment landscape. TPA operates venues on the UT campus including Austin’s largest theater, Bass Concert Hall. Its public programs include Broadway in Austin; an international season of dance, theater, music and more; and the Texas Welcomes series of national touring artists. TPA is part of UT’s College of Fine Arts and engages students across the university in creative experiences. Purpose As a member of the Student Assistant team at the Texas Performing Arts Fabrication Studios, you will be behind the scenes making the magic happen. You will build, paint, and install scenery and props for The Department of Theatre & Dance, the Butler School of Music, and Texas Performing Arts productions. Requirements

  • Enthusiasm to learn and a continued interest in craft.
  • Confidence to ask questions and seek answers independently.
  • Eagerness and flexibility to adapt in a dynamic workplace environment.
  • Able to lift 35 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with hand tools, power tools, drawing, or painting.
  • Previous experience in the related disciplines of Architecture, Engineering, Design, or the Arts.
  • A valid Texas driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Assist full-time staff in construction, painting, workspace maintenance, and inventory.
  • Routinely lift 35 pounds.
  • Available to work a regular 10 hours per week schedule.
  • Dress for safety by wearing closed toe shoes, long pants, and short sleeves.
