About The Position

We are seeking a Student Assistant to join FoundationCCC in its mission of benefiting, supporting, and enhancing the California Community Colleges—the largest and most diverse system of higher education in the nation. The FoundationCCC aims to build stronger communities by providing students and colleges with resources for success and expanding pathways to economic and social mobility across California. The Student Assistant, User Experience Research will specifically support the Student Centered Design Lab (SCDL), the nation’s first user experience (UX) lab dedicated to improving student access and success within California Community Colleges. This position offers hands-on experience in participatory research, UX research, and student-centered design, contributing to projects focused on enhancing student-facing technology, communications, and access to public-benefit programs. The research findings from this position directly inform real-world improvements across the California Community Colleges system. FoundationCCC operates with the impact of a non-profit, the culture of an entrepreneurial start-up, and the scale of a state agency, committed to professional development and shared leadership. The organization is the official nonprofit partner to the California Community Colleges, working across all 116 colleges and 73 districts to improve the student experience and expand mobility. Their work focuses on student success, workforce development, equity, community impact, and system support, having delivered hundreds of millions in grants and support.

Requirements

  • Takes initiative and accountability in learning and project execution, seeking innovative and efficient solutions, and building strong stakeholder relationships
  • Commits to continuous self-improvement and professional growth by staying updated on best practices
  • Interest in social science research, UX research, or student success initiatives
  • Proficient in remote work and navigating various technology platforms (Zoom, MS Office, Teams, Outlook, Salesforce, Google Suite, etc.)
  • Mission-driven, passionate, equity-minded individuals with a strong desire to impact and change people’s lives for the better

Responsibilities

  • Support planning, designing, and conducting research activities, and recruiting and coordinating participants
  • Organize, analyze, and summarize data and research findings
  • Learn and apply equitable, student-centered design and UX research methods in a real-world setting, supporting research operations
