About The Position

The Student Assistant - Resume Coaching (Accountancy) supports students enrolled in the Accountancy program at College of DuPage by providing individualized resume coaching aligned with students' targeted career paths and job roles. The Student Assistant works under supervision of a Faculty Resume Coach Project Supervisor. The Student Assistant will participate in structured mentoring and training sessions focused on industry resume standards and best practices, led by the Faculty Coach.

Requirements

  • THIS IS A STUDENT JOB.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours.
  • Must be currently enrolled in the HRM LC (MANAG 2242, 2245, and 2248) or be an alum of the HRM LC courses.
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above.
  • If a first semester student, GPA requirement is waived.
  • If a Student qualifies for Federal Work Study, the Student will be hired as a Federal Work Study employee to utilize these funds.
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a supportive, student-centered approach required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide two one-on-one resume coaching sessions to Accountancy students, guiding them through the resume development process to create a professional, career-ready resume that highlights their education, skills, work experience, and relevant career development or volunteer activities.
  • Coach students on tailoring their resumes for specific job postings, job descriptions, and accounting-related industries. Offer recommendations for content (edits), formatting and overall presentation.
  • Review and assess final student resumes following coaching sessions and submit a copy of finalized resume to the Faculty Resume Coach Project Supervisor.
  • Participate in two required mentoring and training sessions with the Faculty Resume Coach Project Supervisor via the Zoom virtual platform to learn resume standards, industry expectations and coaching best practices.
  • Communicate professionally with students and the Faculty Resume Coach Project Supervisor via email, phone, and Zoom, ensuring timely follow-up and coordination.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information and personal details shared during resume coaching sessions, in accordance with institutional policies.
