About The Position

Student Advising Mentors (SAMs) serve as peer mentors for all undergraduate students during all stages of their Berklee experience. They provide holistic guidance and support with an academic focus. The SAM role is a student-centered experience where SAMs provide exceptional, accurate, and timely information to their peers on a variety of topics, which include: major declaration, how to register for classes using my.berklee and self service, time management, tips and tricks for class selection, and general peer mentoring in a more formalized setting (so somewhere between your success advisor and your roommate!). SAMs are not tutors or academic advisors, but they help guide students to all these resources. They are also ambassadors for Student Success Advising. They take front and center roles at the Center’s large events, on its social media account, and even design events of their own. From the stage to the dance floor to the recording studio, SAMs ensure their peers feel supported and ready for what comes next.
