About The Position

The Student Accountability Coach will play a crucial role in promoting a supportive school climate aimed at reducing the use of exclusionary discipline practices. They will work to establish or enhance dropout prevention initiatives, support re-entry programs for justice-involved youth, and implement strategies to prevent bullying and harassment. The Student Accountability Coach will also focus on developing relationship-building skills to improve safety by recognizing and preventing coercion, violence, or abuse within the school environment. PLEASE NOTE: This position is funded through the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (TITLE GRANT). The funding for this position is contingent on grant approval and grant funding.

Requirements

  • Ability to operate computer-related hardware and software programs
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations
  • Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents and community members
  • Knowledge of applicable Federal and State laws, district procedures and Board policies
  • Ability to handle confrontation and conflict without an emotional response
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that meets minimum requirements
  • Criminal justice/Fingerprint clearance
  • Demonstrated general proficiency in computer programs such as Google, Microsoft Excel, Word.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year previous work with children experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and support staff to create and maintain a positive and inclusive school climate.
  • Develop and implement programs and initiatives to reduce the use of exclusionary discipline practices, such as suspensions and expulsions.
  • Provide support and guidance to students at risk of dropping out, including developing personalized plans for academic and social success.
  • Coordinate re-entry programs and transition services for justice-involved youth, ensuring a smooth transition back to school and community life.
  • Implement systems and practices to prevent bullying and harassment, including educating students and staff on recognizing and reporting incidents.
  • Conduct training sessions for students, staff, and parents on relationship-building skills, safety awareness, and prevention of coercion, violence, or abuse.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programs and initiatives, adjusting strategies as necessary to meet the needs of students and the school community.
