About The Position

Focus Factory Training (D794) is currently looking for an organized, self-motivated Structural Welding Instructor for long term travel to support strategic sourcing initiatives at the various Focus Factories. This position will report to the Chief of Training for Strategic Sourcing and will report to the applicable on-site Chief of Training when traveling. The instructor will be part of a team, responsible for the training of supplier staff in various courses related to various structural welding processes and wire types, as well as additional welding related courses. Qualified candidates will have a strong commitment to Safety and Procedural Compliance, be self-starter and possess strong verbal & written communication skills. Candidates must also be driven by a desire to develop themselves and others, and possess the ability to multi-task with a friendly, approachable customer service demeanor.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 4 years of welding trade experience
Minimum of 2 years of work experience at Electric Boat
Ability to participate in business travel up to 75%
Must Be able to complete and maintain NDT requirements for Welding Qualifications
Must be able to stand for long periods of time
Must be able to maneuver throughout the facility and units to support all areas as required

Nice To Haves

Advanced educational course work including certifications, associates or other advanced education degree
Instructing/teaching experience
VT Experience
Leadership experience (working leader, MDU, SS …ETC)
Currently qualified & proficient in 3 or more welding processes
Experience with non-destructive testing, AWPSS & SRT
Proficiency with MS Office products – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc
Proficiency with communication & virtual technologies

Responsibilities

Instructing multiple welding related classroom courses including Workmanship, AWPSS and Safety Briefs
Instructing multiple structural related classroom courses
Provide quality oversight of supplier embedded instructors to support site training needs
Directing and assessing hands on training with practice and tests
Enforcing safety rules and regulations in training and during deck plate audits
Assessing student performance & identifying nonconformance to policies, procedures and technical documents
Supporting various course content reviews and related activities
Conducting assessments as needed/scheduled
Manage class rosters and training OQE submittal paperwork
Meeting with Focus Factory Leadership regarding student performance as needed
Consistently grade tests and quizzes to ensure knowledge capture and understanding of training topics
Communicate with other Training team members to advance work and communicate issues
Supporting special training projects as required
Support the Training department goals and objectives with other responsibilities as assigned
