About The Position

Focus Factory Training (D973) is currently looking for an organized, self-motivated Structural Welding Instructor to support the strategic sourcing initiatives at the Rhoads Focus Factory Philadelphia, PA. This position will report to the on-site Chief of Training. The Instructor will be part of a team, responsible for the training of supplier students in various courses related to various structural welding processes and wire types, as well as additional welding related requirements. Qualified candidates will have a strong sense of commitment to Safety and Procedural Compliance, be a self-starter and possess strong verbal & written communication skills. Candidates must also be driven by a desire to develop themselves and others, and possess the ability to multi-task with a friendly, approachable customer service demeanor.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 4 years of welding trade experience
Minimum of 2 years of work experience at Electric Boat
Ability to participate on business travel up to 15%
Have a strong ability to prioritize and complete multiple complex assignments
Have a strong ability to lead and direct in a classroom and workshop environment
Have excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal skills
Have demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel)
Be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Have a strong willingness to think critically and problem solve
Have a strong commitment to teaching others and leading student classes
Have a demonstrated commitment to customer-service, safety & procedural compliance
Ready to learn and take on additional responsibilities and duties as needed
Ready to learn and teach new courses and team members with a variety of learning abilities
Have the ability to engage with supplier employees in a professional manner
Be comfortable with new teaching technologies and willing to adapt to new teaching approaches
Must Be able to complete and maintain NDT requirements for Welding Qualifications
Must be able to stand for long periods of time
Must be able to maneuver throughout the facility and units to support all areas as required

Nice To Haves

Advanced educational course work including certifications, associates or other advanced education degree
Instructing/teaching experience
Leadership experience (working leader, MDU, SS …ETC)
Currently qualified & proficient in 3 or more welding processes
Experience with non-destructive testing, AWPSS & SRT
Proficiency with communication & virtual technologies

Responsibilities

Instructing multiple welding related classroom courses including Workmanship, AWPSS and Safety Briefs
Instructing multiple structural related classroom courses
Directing and assessing hands on training with practice and tests
Enforcing safety rules and regulations in training and during deck plate audits
Assessing student performance & identifying nonconformance to policies, procedures and technical documents
Supporting various course content reviews and related activities
Conducting assessments as needed/scheduled
Manage class rosters and training OQE submittal paperwork
Meeting with Focus Factory Leadership regarding student performance as needed
Consistently grade tests and quizzes to ensure knowledge capture and understanding of training topics
Communicate with other Training team members to advance work and communicate issues
Supporting special training projects as required
Support the Training department goals and objectives with other responsibilities as assigned
