Structural Engineering Intern
About The Position
As a Structural Engineering Intern at KPFF, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers on real-world projects, gaining hands-on experience in various phases of the design and construction process. This internship provides valuable structural analysis, modeling, and design exposure while allowing you to contribute ideas and solutions that enhance project efficiency and integrity. Throughout the internship, you will: Collaborate with seasoned engineers on structural projects during design, analysis, and construction phases. Conduct structural analysis, simulations, and calculations using Revit, RAM, and RISA tools. Use Revit to assist in creating structural drawings and specifications. Participate in site visits and inspections, gaining practical insights into construction processes. Contribute to team discussions and problem-solving efforts, bringing fresh perspectives to the project.
Requirements
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's Degree program in Civil or Architectural Engineering with an emphasis in structures.
- Completion of at least 90 credits, including two or more design courses (e.g., concrete, steel, wood, or masonry) by the start of the internship.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above in Bachelor's coursework.
- Basic knowledge of structural engineering fundamentals (e.g., free body diagrams, P/V/M diagrams).
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong technical and organizational abilities, with an ability to work collaboratively.
Nice To Haves
- In-process of obtaining a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Previous internship experience in a structural or civil engineering role.
- Completed coursework in Structural Statics and Dynamics, Steel Design, Concrete Design, Wood Design, and Seismic Analysis and Design.
