About The Position

Structural Engineer Hybrid, Permanent Position Key Responsibilities Creating structural steel design models using Revit Designing header/support steel to carry equipment loads Developing design calculations with RISA software and supplementing with hand calculations for members and connections Preparing and coordinating structural approval/submittal drawings Checking technical documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance Supporting the development of construction and installation drawings Presenting structural analysis and design outcomes to senior engineers and project teams Confirming that all designs satisfy relevant building codes, standards, and project requirements Managing structural design deliverables for projects independently with limited supervision Reviewing contract documents to gain thorough familiarity with scope and constraints Participating in project meetings; occasionally leading coordination or model review/BIM sessions Drafting and reviewing Requests for Information (RFIs) Diagnosing and resolving structural design issues on your own Supporting colleagues in resolving structural design challenges Coordinating effectively between internal teams and global suppliers/fabricators Estimating steel material quantities and preparing specifications in partnership with procurement Generating rough order of magnitude (ROM) estimates for steel tonnage and cost when requested Identifying and implementing multi-disciplinary process improvements and steel design optimizations Assuming full technical responsibility (including schedule, engineering planning, cost tracking, and budget oversight) for steel scope on larger or more complex projects Applying systems-level thinking to convert high-level requirements and details into complete, coordinated structural designs Reviewing layouts, load take-downs, beam sizing, egress paths, stairs, and access platforms provided by external engineers of record, architects, or other parties

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with Structural focus (Master’s degree preferred)
  • 5–8 years of relevant experience in structural steel design
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 10%
  • Solid grasp of engineering mechanics, statics, and structural design principles
  • Intermediate proficiency with RISA structural analysis software (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of steel fabrication, erection processes, and quality expectations
  • Understanding of cost drivers in steel design, detailing, and construction
  • Strong proficiency in CAD tools (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks)
  • Proficiency with structural analysis/design software (RISA, STAAD.Pro, or equivalent)
  • Conceptual familiarity with supporting structures for mechanical/automated equipment
  • Experience with scope definition, change management, and basic project scheduling
  • Capability to conduct risk assessments for health, safety, and constructability at both component and system levels
  • Comfortable in a collaborative, fast-paced environment where teamwork and initiative are expected
  • Clear and effective communicator who can establish and manage expectations around deliverables
  • Strong ability to handle urgent priorities, make sound decisions under time pressure, and keep track of important details
