About The Tournament The Tournament has grown from a unique idea amongst friends to hosting some of the hottest sporting events in the world, owning and operating The Basketball Tournament (TBT) and The Soccer Tournament (TST). TBT launched in 2014 and is now one of the most exciting events on the summer sports calendar, with a Fox Sports partnership, regional championships across the country, and a winner-take-all, $1 million prize. Every year, its open format attracts some of the best players in the world and fulfills its promise of showcasing electrifying competition. In 2023, The Tournament unveiled TST, which exploded onto the scene with a $1 million prize, billing itself as Coachella for Sports – part food festival, part sporting event. Internship Description The Tournament is seeking a Strategy intern to support the fourth edition of The Soccer Tournament (TST) and the thirteenth edition of The Basketball Tournament (TBT) this summer. Interns must be enthusiastic, motivated, and eager to learn during this 5-month immersive experience. This opportunity provides a dive into the world of live sporting events, offering hands-on learning and the chance to make a tangible impact on the event’s success. This comprehensive experience will provide exposure to and involvement in various aspects of TST and TBT, including: Assisting in the development and execution of long-term and short-term strategic plans for marketing initiatives. Monitoring and analyzing competitor strategies, trends, and market positioning to improve company strategy. Conducting research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive insights to support strategic decision-making. Contributing ideas and innovative solutions to improve processes, increase efficiency, and enhance event experiences. Monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the success of strategic initiatives and suggest improvements.

Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will have an interest in sports (specifically soccer and basketball), be willing to pitch in wherever needed in our start-up environment, and exhibit the following traits: Extremely detail-oriented Highly organized Quick learner Excellent research, writing, and computer skills Effective communicator Superb time management skills Team-oriented with the ability to work independently Located in the Boston Area
