We are investing in and developing a strategic sourcing group to leverage the synergies across our mill network and create value for our stakeholders. Purpose The Strategic Sourcing Specialist supports Sourcing Category Managers in the implementation, execution, and sustainment of approved sourcing strategies across assigned commodity categories. This role is execution‑focused and is responsible for driving day‑to‑day sourcing activities, supplier performance management, analytical support, and contract administration to ensure continuity of supply, cost competitiveness, and alignment with BiOrigin Specialty Products’ safety, quality, and sustainability objectives. The Strategic Sourcing Specialist partners closely with Category Managers and cross‑functional stakeholders including Operations, Finance, Quality, EHS, and Supply Chain to convert category strategies into measurable business results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or senior buyer roles.
  • Experience supporting category management, sourcing initiatives, and supplier performance programs.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (JD Edwards preferred).
  • Strong analytical skills with advanced proficiency in Excel and working knowledge of reporting and database tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross‑functionally and influence without direct authority.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to operate effectively with incomplete or evolving information.

  • Supply chain certification (ASCM/APICS, CPSM, or similar) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support Sourcing Category Managers in executing approved category strategies, including sourcing wave implementation, supplier transitions, and contract rollouts.
  • Assist with RFI/RFP processes including supplier identification, data collection, analysis, scoring, and documentation of recommendations.
  • Support negotiation preparation by developing cost models, benchmarking analyses, and scenario evaluations; participate in negotiations as required.
  • Maintain category documentation, sourcing playbooks, and supplier records to ensure consistency and repeatability across the sourcing process.
  • Execute supplier performance management activities using defined KPIs related to safety, quality, delivery, service, and cost.
  • Support Category Managers in driving supplier corrective action plans, follow‑up actions, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate supplier business reviews, site visits, and joint improvement initiatives in partnership with Category Managers.
  • Maintain and administer supplier data within the central supplier database and ERP system.
  • Prepare and maintain financial analyses including spend by supplier, volume and pricing analysis, contract balance tracking, and variance reporting.
  • Support cost savings tracking, forecasting, and validation activities for assigned categories.
  • Assist with market intelligence reporting, including commodity indices, supplier cost drivers, and supply risk indicators.
  • Support annual budgeting and standard cost update processes for assigned categories.
  • Partner with Operations, Quality, EHS, Finance, and Supply Chain teams to support implementation of sourcing initiatives and supplier changes.
  • Assist with issue resolution related to supplier performance, supply disruptions, or contract compliance.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across sourcing processes, analytics, and supplier collaboration models.
  • Act as a developing category subject matter resource by staying informed on market, technology, and supply chain trends relevant to assigned categories.
