About The Position

We are seeking a Strategic Account Executive based in the Western United States (Washington, Oregon, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico ideally). This Account Executive will be part of the EveryDay Labs team within Newsela. EveryDay Labs is an education technology company that uses behavioral science and data to reduce chronic absenteeism in K-12 schools. They provide districts with attendance dashboards and a workflow platform along with proactive, personalized communication, multilingual family support, attendance intervention, and strategic consulting to improve school-family engagement. Founded in 2015 from the research of Dr. Todd Rogers, their evidence-backed family communications use behavioral and data science to effectively “nudge” families overcome barriers to attendance. EDL has partnered with districts to prevent over 3.1 million absences and restore over 1 billion minutes of instruction. Why You'll Love This Role: The Strategic Account Executive will be responsible for building relationships with key decision makers at the district level and selling the EveryDay Labs’ comprehensive attendance solution. You’ll employ solution-based selling techniques and solution mapping, along with your strong negotiation and closing skills, to ensure school board preparation and approval. You’ll create and maintain an aggressive pipeline, and will build and adjust strategic account plans for key accounts to move each account through the sales cycle. In your day to day, you will do everything from pipeline creation, pipeline management and forecasting to designing lead generation campaigns and managing sales through the entire lifecycle while collaborating closely with other departments. You’ll have the opportunity to meet in-person with school and district leaders, presenting solutions, negotiating terms, and securing agreements that bring EveryDay Labs into districts. You will be well-versed in your territory’s funding, state initiatives, demographics, and K-12 education landscape, which will help inform your overall sales strategy. What You'll Be Doing: You’ll be part of a strategic sales team and the face of EveryDay Labs in the market You’ll also have direct, regular exposure to our executive leadership team during meetings to discuss specific deal strategies, introduce industry trends, and build support for district-specific initiatives You will have a highly skilled team dedicated to supporting you and your book of business, and will also receive extensive support from our Learning & Enablement team In addition to achieving your own revenue targets, you will get to work with an enthusiastic, cross-functional team to catapult EveryDay Labs’ growth as we scale our sales organization You thrive in a role that requires significant autonomy, representing the company in the market, making recommendations that impact strategy and results, and managing priorities independently. You’ll have the opportunity to exercise discretion and independent judgment on matters of significance, including evaluating customer needs, structuring tailored solutions, negotiating within established guidelines, and influencing revenue and business outcomes. About You:

Requirements

  • You are a proven Account Executive with 2+ years of demonstrated success selling technology products to school districts in the K12 market
  • You are willing to build your own book of business and have extensive experience in networking, prospecting, and building a pipeline
  • You are well-versed in MEDDPICC sales methodology
  • You have proven success forecasting business in the EdTech industry
  • You’re excited by opportunities to connect face-to-face — this position involves regular travel to meet with customers and prospects.
