The Hotel at the University of Maryland is a AAA 4-Diamond independent property located in the heart of College Park. With 297 guest rooms, 24 suites, and over 40,000 square feet of event space, we deliver a sophisticated experience for business and leisure travelers alike. Our commitment to excellence extends behind the scenes, where our culinary and stewarding teams ensure every guest experience is seamless. We’re currently seeking a hardworking and dependable Steward/Dishwasher to join our back-of-house team. As a Steward/Dishwasher, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our kitchen and food service areas. You’ll ensure that all dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment are properly cleaned and sanitized, supporting the culinary team in delivering exceptional service.
Requirements
- Previous stewarding or kitchen experience preferred, but not required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Strong attention to cleanliness and detail
- Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- A positive attitude and willingness to support the team
Responsibilities
- Operate dishwashing machines and clean all dishes, glassware, utensils, and kitchen tools
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors, walls, and workstations
- Properly store clean items in designated areas
- Remove trash and recyclables and ensure proper disposal procedures
- Assist with basic food prep or banquet setup as needed
- Follow all safety, sanitation, and hygiene procedures
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to supervisors
