About The Position

A large, nationally recognized tertiary and quaternary care hospital in Western North Carolina is seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Manager . This flagship medical center is licensed for 800+ beds and serves as a regional referral hub, offering advanced surgical and specialty services, including trauma, cardiovascular, pediatric, and interventional care. The facility is known for clinical excellence, high surgical volume, and a strong commitment to quality and safety. The Sterile Processing Manager reports to the Director of Sterile Processing and provides leadership, operational oversight, and staff development for the Sterile Processing Department. This role ensures efficient workflows, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and strong collaboration with perioperative and clinical service lines. Key responsibilities include staff recruitment and retention, education and competency management, performance improvement initiatives, and promoting the Sterile Processing department across the organization.

Requirements

  • Completion of a two-year Surgical Technology program or CRCST/CSPDT certification
  • Active CSPDT or IAHCSMM (HSPA) certification
  • Minimum 3 years of Sterile Processing experience
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience
  • Strong knowledge of OR instrumentation, aseptic technique, and infection control practices
  • Proficiency with computer systems and sterile processing workflow platforms (e.g., SPM)
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and supervisory skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department and supervise assigned staff
  • Ensure compliance with infection prevention, aseptic technique, and regulatory standards
  • Oversee orientation, training, continuing education, and competency assessments
  • Collaborate with OR, Endoscopy, CVOR, Labor & Delivery, and ambulatory services to optimize workflows
  • Maintain quality control programs and support continuous process improvement initiatives
  • Promote effective communication and integration with hospital departments and service lines
  • Support departmental representation within the organization and broader community
