About The Position

As Nazareth School – San Diego’s STEM Teacher (K–8), you will launch and oversee our new STEM lab while serving as a middle school homeroom teacher. This role is an opportunity to build a hands-on, project-based STEM program that inspires curiosity, problem-solving, and collaboration, all within a supportive, faith-filled Catholic school community. You’ll bring learning to life through engaging lab experiences, technology integration, and differentiated instruction aligned with California State Standards, Diocese of San Diego Religion Standards, and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS.)

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, STEM field, or related discipline.
  • California Multiple Subject Credential or relevant Single Subject Credential in Math/Science (or ability/willingness to obtain).
  • Two or more years of successful teaching experience, preferably in STEM and/or middle grades and ideally within a Catholic or faith-based school.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement engaging, project-based STEM lessons aligned with California State Standards.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to inspire and support learners from kindergarten through eighth grade.
  • Proficiency with educational technology tools (e.g., Google Classroom, online learning platforms, interactive lab/STEAM tools).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organization and time-management, and commitment to confidentiality and professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver rigorous, standards-aligned STEM instruction for K–8 students, using the new STEM lab to support hands-on, inquiry-based learning.
  • Serve as a middle school homeroom teacher, fostering a positive classroom culture and supporting students’ academic, social-emotional, and spiritual growth.
  • Differentiate instruction for a wide range of learners using small-group work, lab projects, and educational technology (e.g., Google Classroom, digital STEM tools).
  • Assess and monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments; maintain accurate records and communicate results to students and parents.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to vertically align STEM curriculum, share best practices, and participate actively in professional development.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians through conferences, emails, and other updates regarding student progress and classroom activities.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities such as supervision duties, participation in school events, and supporting school-wide initiatives.
