About The Position

The STEM Manager is a strategic, hands-on leadership role responsible for designing, developing, and scaling high-quality Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) programming at Woodcraft Rangers. This includes overseeing curriculum and training across key areas such as robotics, 3D printing, coding, and e-sports, ensuring content is engaging, skill-building, and aligned with field needs. This role leads a team of curriculum writers and trainers while partnering closely with program managers to identify training needs, deliver professional development, and create tools that support successful program implementation. The STEM Manager also oversees the Robotics Academy, a specialized training initiative that builds staff capacity to deliver impactful robotics instruction and expands access to meaningful, future-ready STEM experiences for youth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related STEM field.
  • Experience in educational program management, particularly in STEM or robotics.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with youth and foster a positive learning environment.
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills.
  • Commitment to staying informed on STEM education trends and technologies.
  • Familiarity with relevant policies.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with ethnically and culturally diverse communities, along with a comprehensive understanding of the unique needs of high-need areas in Los Angeles, including knowledge of the existing educational systems, youth development principles, and related programs.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required for all employees engaged in in-person work with staff or clients.
  • Valid LIVE Scan, TB Clearance, and CPR Certification (provided by Woodcraft Rangers).

Responsibilities

  • Curriculum & Program Development: Lead the design, development, and implementation of engaging STEM curriculum and training materials, ensuring alignment with youth needs and program goals.
  • Program Innovation & Execution: Drive the development and coordination of STEM programming across disciplines, including robotics, 3D printing, coding/programming, web design, and engineering.
  • Team Leadership & Training: Manage and coach a team of curriculum developers and trainers, setting clear expectations and ensuring staff are prepared to deliver high-quality learning experiences.
  • Robotics Academy Leadership: Oversee the Robotics Academy, ensuring training effectively equips instructors—regardless of prior experience—to confidently teach robotics.
  • Staffing & Recruitment: Recruit, develop, and retain a strong team of educators and facilitators committed to high-quality STEM instruction and youth mentorship.
  • Community Engagement & Events: Plan and lead showcases, competitions, and events that highlight student work and foster excitement around STEM within the community.
  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Ensure all programs remain current and relevant by integrating emerging STEM trends and best practices into curriculum and training.
  • Data & Impact Evaluation: Monitor program effectiveness and growth, using data and feedback to strengthen participation, quality, and overall impact.
