About The Position

The ideal STEM Associate is a curious, collaborative, and detail-oriented educator who is passionate about creating engaging, hands-on learning experiences for youth. This individual researches and applies promising practices to support the development of high-quality STEM curriculum and training materials that strengthen program implementation. As part of the Learning Team, the STEM Associate works collaboratively to design content across a range of areas, including general science, engineering, mathematics, gardening, robotics, 3D printing, coding, and e-sports. The ideal candidate is both creative and practical, able to translate complex STEM concepts into accessible, engaging experiences while remaining responsive to field feedback and committed to continuous improvement. The STEM Associate is a collaborative and detail-oriented role responsible for supporting the development and implementation of high-quality STEM curriculum and training. As part of the Learning Team, this position contributes to the creation of engaging, hands-on learning experiences across a range of focus areas, including general science, engineering, mathematics, gardening, robotics, 3D printing, coding, and e-sports. This role works closely with STEM leadership, curriculum writers, and Club Leaders to design lesson plans, activities, and cycle plans that are practical, adaptable, and aligned with program needs. The STEM Associate also supports training development and helps ensure staff are equipped with the tools and resources needed to successfully facilitate STEM programming. Through research, collaboration, and responsiveness to field feedback, the STEM Associate plays a key role in maintaining high-quality, relevant, and youth-centered STEM experiences.

Requirements

AA Degree in a STEM related field is preferred or minimum of one year of experience as a group leader working with children and six units in child development.
Enthusiastic to work well with youth development staff and/or youth.
Good oral and written communication.
Ability to travel to the various regions that have Woodcraft Rangers programs to support or deliver in person training. Regions would include San Fernando Valley, South Los Angeles, West Los Angeles, San Gabriel Valley, Southeast LA, and Downtown areas.
Computer literacy and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

Research best practices in youth development to inform content development.
Maintain and provide ongoing updates to the curriculum library and ensure communication for cycle plans is consistent.
Identify and coordinate potential partners that would provide curriculum for staff.
Implement STEM content trainings for Woodcraft Rangers club leaders.
Development of program support tools and resources as needed.
Work with Associate Director of Learning to set targets, manage projects, and evaluate progress and impact.
Work with Learning Team to align best practices and guide collective efforts.
Develop new activities and adapt existing curriculum to meet the needs of specialty `programs.
Help create assessment tools to monitor implementation of activities.
Consult with specialty enrichment Club Leaders to develop new curriculum.
Develop curriculum for assigned grade levels and subjects, adhering to state and national standards.
Participate in staff development training as required, approximately 40 hours / year.
Ensure program compliance and program quality are met according to funding, partner and WR guidelines and requirements.
Other related duties as assigned.
