About The Position

The STEAM Studio Program Manager leads the planning and delivery of a vibrant, hands-on youth day camp for elementary, middle, and high school students. This role supervises professional and student staff, manages a $200,000 multi-source budget, and keeps the program running smoothly behind the scenes. The Program Manager coordinates six weeks of interactive, creative, and inspiring summer programming in partnership with faculty, families, community organizations, and university stakeholders to spark curiosity and deliver meaningful STEAM learning experiences for K–12 students. The Program Manager also supports assessment, marketing, and continuous improvement efforts while serving as an enthusiastic ambassador for STEAM Studio on campus and in the community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • One year of successful experience mentoring, managing, or leading others.
  • At least one year of customer service skills; including diplomatically, patiently, and successfully handling questions, problems, and suggestions to generate solutions with diverse populations.
  • Physical demands include the frequent walking as well as long periods of standing both indoors and outdoors.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to take initiative and prioritize work while advancing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; including communicating technical information in terms understandable to the diverse audiences.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new skills; adapt to new technology and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Friendly, enthusiastic, and positive attitude.
  • Self-starter with exceptional time management skills, attention to detail, and dedication to quality.
  • Desire and ability to learn more, try something new, and embrace change.
  • Advanced computer skills (Adobe, Google Drive, Data Analytics, Web Design, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Manage all STEAM Studio team members, including professional and student staff; conduct annual hiring, training, and supervising of student workers.
  • Monitor and assess the training and work-quality of outreach program staff.
  • Coordinate and execute the STEAM Studio program, including six weeks of summer programming for elementary, middle, and high-school students.
  • Manage STEAM Studio budget of approximately $200,000; effectively navigate the use of multiple funding types (grants, specified gifts, registration, etc).
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with many different stakeholders including faculty, staff, community members, students, parents/families, campers, and the general public.
  • Collect data to provide assessment of program effectiveness, analyzing results and making recommendations for improvement for future events and program design.
  • Plan and manage marketing initiatives for STEAM Studio with the help of University Communications and Marketing.
  • Represent STEAM at University and community events.
  • Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.
