About The Position

The State MAT Telehealth Medical Director provides leadership, oversight, and coordination for medication assisted treatment (MAT) services across all facilities in the program. This role is responsible for the development, implementation, supervision, and daily operations of the MAT program, ensuring consistent, high-quality patient care. The position collaborates closely with integrated medical, nursing, behavioral health, and security teams to support effective service delivery. This role oversees regulatory reporting, addresses unusual events, and ensures adherence to organizational mission and care standards. The Medical Director also guides program growth, clinical direction, and operational accountability across the state.

Requirements

  • MD or DO with state licensure and DEA in states of operation.
  • Board Certification in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine or Psychiatry.
  • Experience in providing and/or supervising MAT services is required.
  • Experience in the coordination and administration of behavioral health or medical service delivery systems as well as knowledge and/or interest in the provision of integrated behavioral health/medical programming within a multidisciplinary framework.
  • Professional experience in a behavioral health or medical field that indicates knowledge of management and supervision techniques, peer review, data collection and quality assurance.
  • State medical licensure and DEA coverage in all states of operation.

Nice To Haves

  • Board Certification in Addiction Medicine preferred.
  • Experience providing and/or supervising the provision of both somatic and behavioral health services is preferred.
  • Ideally, candidate has experience navigating the correctional healthcare setting in which there are multiple stakeholders, while maintaining the patient’s needs as the primary focus.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, supervise, and coordinate MAT services across all facilities while collaborating with integrated clinical and operational teams.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and expansion of MAT programs, including staffing models, clinical protocols, and service design.
  • Provide clinical supervision, professional education, and ongoing staff development for medical and behavioral health teams.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state laws, regulations, contracts, and policies, including corrective action planning and regulatory reporting.
  • Serve as a clinical, organizational, and community liaison to support transitional care initiatives, partnerships, and program oversight.
