About The Position

The Medical Assistant I provides clinical and administrative support across multiple service lines, including Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Behavioral Health, Women’s Health, and Laboratory services. This role ensures smooth patient flow, accurate data collection, and high-quality care delivery. Medical Assistants contribute to a positive patient experience by assisting providers with examinations, procedures, and clinical tasks while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment.

Requirements

  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, multitask, and maintain accuracy
  • Basic knowledge of clinical procedures and medical terminology
  • Ability to build rapport with patients of diverse backgrounds
  • Comfort working across multiple service lines
  • Proficiency in or willingness to learn EHR systems (Epic preferred)
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program, EMT, or Paramedic program
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Minimum 1 year of clinical experience; 3 years preferred
  • Experience with pediatrics and adult patients strongly preferred
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Epic certification
  • Ability to travel between Premier sites as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with vaccine administration or lab draws
  • Familiarity with multiple disciplines (Family Medicine, Behavioral Health, OB/Women’s Health)

Responsibilities

  • Room patients, obtain vitals, collect medical histories, and prepare them for provider visits
  • Assist providers during exams and procedures across departments
  • Accurately document patient information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
  • Clean and disinfect exam rooms and manage room inventory
  • Process instruments, including use of autoclave
  • Collect, label, and prepare lab specimens for testing
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, families, and care teams
  • Assist with scheduling, referrals, and patient inquiries when needed
  • Collaborate with clinical leads and peers to improve workflows and meet performance goals
  • Support quality improvement, compliance activities, and community engagement
  • Ensure confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
