Role description: We are searching for a Staff Water Engineer to support and grow our Water team in Syracuse, NY. This candidate will use their expertise and technical knowledge to deliver design work for water/wastewater clients in New York and across North America. The candidate for this position must have a valid US driver's license as it will be necessary driving to field sites as needed. Role accountabilities: As a Staff Water Engineer you will evaluate, plan, design, and support management of projects for water/wastewater treatment and conveyance (pipelines, treatment, and pumping facilities). You will need to exercise judgement on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives. Completing technical and report writing with guidance from more senior team members will be a key part in your role. You will perform fieldwork activities such as site visits, construction inspection, sampling, water quality analyses, asset inventory, flow monitoring set-up and monitoring, technology evaluations, and plant operations information, process troubleshooting and optimization. You will support professional engineering services during construction including construction observation, review of shop drawings, responses to request for information (RFI's), and permit closeouts. Managing tasks as a project resource, completing allocated activities to meet budget, timeframe and quality objectives and meeting or exceeding client expectations will be expected in your position. You will need to carry out investigations and analyses to support the development of technical solutions, as well as prepare documentation and reports ensuring accuracy and compliance with Arcadis requirements and relevant national standards and codes of practice. In addition to the aforementioned, you will also: Liaise with Project Managers/Team Leaders and clients to ensure effective communication on project matters. Contribute to the resolution of technical issues on projects and provide technical guidance to other team members. Collaborate with other design disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall design or solution. Review completed engineering work to ensure it meets specified standards. Further develop understanding of the services delivered by Arcadis, of the client's business and the industry sector to facilitate personal networking and to develop personal credibility in the industry.

Requirements

  • Detail oriented with knowledge of relevant national standards and codes of practice
  • Ability to provide technical guidance
  • Advanced research, data gathering, technical writing and analysis skills
  • Developing skills including technical, project management, relationship management, sector expertise and commercial awareness
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an appropriate area of engineering
  • Minimum 3 years' of experience in engineering
  • EIT Certification
  • Valid US driver's license
