We are seeking a Staff Engineer for our Portland, Oregon office to collaborate with designers, planners, project managers, strategic communicators, and technical leaders on vital water, wastewater, and recycled water infrastructure projects. Under the mentorship of senior engineers, planners, and project managers, you will gain hands-on experience across a variety of challenging and exciting planning, design, and optimization projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related engineering field.
  • Strong interest in the planning and design of water, wastewater, and recycled water facilities and systems.
  • E.I.T. registration or the ability to obtain registration within one year. P.E. registration or ability to obtain within one year is a plus.
  • 4-8 years of experience in planning, design and/or construction of water, wastewater and or recycled water facilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; this position will involve preparation of technical memoranda, reports, drawings, specifications, and miscellaneous project documents.
  • Strong motivation to achieve successful and collaborative project performance that achieve clients’ goals, including cost-effective, sustainable, energy-efficient, operator-friendly, and innovative valuable outcomes.
  • Demonstration of understanding and defining project goals and requirements.
  • Team first mindset. You enjoy collaborating, learning from, and teaching others, and are active in creating a positive team dynamic.
  • Passionate about self-improvement and opportunities to learn new skills, obtained through both mentorship from WSC Senior Engineers or through external training.
  • Desire to operate with independence and accountability. A willingness to take ownership of tasks and deliverables.
  • Desire to learn how to be a dedicated and effective client service partner, and demonstrating responsiveness, clear communication, quality delivery, mindful listening, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • P.E. registration or ability to obtain within one year is a plus.
  • Active participant in related professional associations such as AWWA, WEF, WateReuse or other water-focused industry organizations are a plus.
  • AutoDesk Civil 3D or BIM/Revit design experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • You will be a part of multi-disciplinary teams that plan, design, and manage water infrastructure.
  • You will function as project engineering staff to support the design of water, wastewater and/or recycled water infrastructure projects, working towards becoming a project manager for a variety of infrastructure design and planning projects.
  • Your role will start with at least 3 days per week in our Portland Oregon office, with the opportunity for flexible work from home schedule.
