Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Staff Systems - Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) Engineer to its Specialty Engineering team, located in Roy, UT or Huntsville, AL in support of the Sentinel (GBSD) program. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package. Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications This position is for a systems engineer experienced in design for EMI/EMC compliance. The selected candidate will be expected to lead various efforts within the E3 Design Support team including design reviews, analysis, and E3 CDRLs development. The E3 engineer should feel comfortable providing critical, actionable feedback of system designs as well as giving regular status updates to program leadership. They should be able to develop and apply advanced technical principles, techniques, and concepts regarding EMI/EMC designs. The selected candidate will also provide support to the E3 thread lead, by performing tasks dealing with interface definition, requirement decomposition, compliance tracking, verification planning and verification execution. In this position, you will be expected to: Apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts in EMI/EMC design Work on unusually complex technical problems and provide innovative solutions Ensure systems and equipment meet MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464 and other compliance requirements Share extensive knowledge in the design and implementation of EMI/EMC controls, to include transient suppression, filter design, circuit board and flextape layout, cable shield design, equipment housing design and system grounding principles Provide sound technical guidance in system requirements development, management, analysis, and traceability, to translate customer requirements and CONOPS into systems requirements, and further allocate to lower-level requirements Consult/Lead reviews of technical schematics, drawings, plans and/or specifications Oversee and support system technical performance measurement definition and tracking Review and integrate work products developed by others Provide regular mentorship / leadership to teams on EMI design topics
