About The Position

Under the direction of the Public Records Section (PRS) Staff Services Manager II (SSM II), the Staff Services Manager I (SSM I) is responsible for providing supervisory duties for staff analysts and ensuring Departmental compliance with California Highway Patrol policies and procedures, the California Public Records Act (CPRA) and Information Practices Act (IPA) programs, records releasable pursuant to Vehicle Code 20012 and Penal Code 832.7, and of the requirements of the related laws, rules, and control agencies for PRS. The job duties include the oversight and direction of daily activities and workload of assigned PRS personnel and the liaison between Departmental personnel to ensure compliance for all CPRA requests. Conducts in-depth review of all staff work, such as correspondence, memorandum, analysis and recommendations, and redaction of Mobile Video/Audio Recording System (MVARS) footage, Body-Worn camera footage, and all incident related videos maintained by the Department related to the CPRA and IPA programs; forwards recommendations through channels for appropriate release. Coordinates with the PRU management staff to design and update instructional courses presented by PRU; ensures training needs and concepts identified through data collection trend and analysis and are incorporated into all Departmental policies and training programs; and coordinates with CHP offices to provide instructional Public Records Act training for individuals identified as custodians of records.
