About The Position

The Staff Services Manager I is the unit manager of the Regulatory Compliance Unit. This unit has primary responsibility for training, inspecting, and regulating firearms dealers, exempted federal firearm licensees, manufacturers and ammunition vendors licensed to operate in California. The unit provides training to various stakeholders, as well as law enforcement agencies, regarding reporting firearms and other firearms and/or ammunition related responsibilities. Requirements

  • Minimum Requirements are in the Class Specification.
  • Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
  • Fingerprint check will be required.
  • Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is REQUIRED and must be submitted with your application to be considered for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Training, inspecting, and regulating firearms dealers, exempted federal firearm licensees, manufacturers and ammunition vendors licensed to operate in California.
  • Providing training to various stakeholders, as well as law enforcement agencies, regarding reporting firearms and other firearms and/or ammunition related responsibilities.
  • Managing a team that travels throughout the state to conduct inspections and various types of training.
  • Ensuring coverage is available in the office as well as how you would provide oversight to staff who are out in the field.
