Ready to shape the future of resilient communities? Our Richmond, VA office is looking for an ambitious Scientist I to join our growing environmental team. As a Scientist I, you'll gain hands-on experience contributing to site development and remediation projects that improve the community's environmental health and resiliency. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Wildlife Biology, Natural Resources Management or related discipline
  • 0-3 years of relevant experience
  • Physically and mentally fit for extended field days in a challenging outdoor environment. When in an outdoor environment, the employee is subject to walking distances in uneven terrain, varying temperature and weather conditions, and some heavy lifting.
  • Proficient with MS Office suite of products.
  • Task-oriented individual with strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Eager to learn technical and regulatory processes.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Review pertinent safety information before conducting fieldwork to ensure compliance while minimising risks
  • Collect wetland delineation data in diverse terrain and weather conditions, from mild to rugged
  • Operate and troubleshoot GPS/GNSS receivers and other related data collection equipment
  • Learn and assist in processes that keep projects moving. i.e. writing reports and supporting project permitting for senior staff and project managers
  • Assist in preparing maps and other illustrations for data reporting and project deliverables
  • Complete field and office tasks accurately and on time. Must possess a keen attention to detail
