About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY The Surgical Services Operating Room Nurse (OR RN) assumes responsibility and accountability for designated patients undergoing surgical procedures, utilizing the nursing process. Provides patient care according to Marshall Medical Center’s (MMC’s) standard of practice. Validates pre-operatively, that each patient is physically and emotionally ready for the intended procedure and provides patient care ensuring safety throughout the intra-operative and post-operative phase until patient care has been transferred to the PACU RN or Primary Care Nurse. Maintains good public relations by interacting with patients, visitors, physicians and other staff in a friendly and professional manner, functioning as the patient’s advocate at all times. The OR RN oversees the performance of any non-professional, whose activities impact their patient’s care and ensures the safe handling of infectious material(s) to protect all patients and employees. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education/Licensure/Certification: Current California Registered Nursing (RN) License required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required. Knowledge: Previous operating room nursing experience required. (Previous experience may be waived to allow for in-house training). Five years nursing experience preferred. Skills: Has the physical and mental health sufficient to accomplish the duties of an RN and able to meet the pharmacology requirements of MMC. Computer familiarity required. Requirements

  • Current California Registered Nursing (RN) License required.
