Apply advanced knowledge of civil engineering design principles, including grading, drainage, stormwater management, and utility layout using AutoCAD Civil 3D. Independently prepare erosion and sediment control designs compliant with regulatory standards and environmental requirements. Conduct hydraulic and hydrologic modeling and calculations using specialized tools within Civil 3D. Analyze, design and optimize water systems using Water distribution network modelling software such as WaterCAD. Develop and review technical reports, engineering plans, and construction documentation. Assist the Engineering Manager in maintaining project schedules and budgets. Interface directly with the client or subconsultants. Support business development through writing of technical approaches, scopes of work, and presentation to clients. Responsible for effective communication with other engineering disciplines and project team. Function as a technical specialist or in a lead role. With minimal supervision, applies advanced engineering techniques and analyses for problems and methods. Expand knowledge and skill set in area of discipline. May start to expand knowledge in other disciplines and/or functional areas. Continue to learn, remains current and applies independent knowledge and interpretation about departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and B&V policies and procedures relative to assigned tasks. Prepare a variety of complex engineering deliverables. Perform complex research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection. Prepare complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles. Manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements. Plan and conduct independent evaluation, selection and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Review lower-level engineering work or assignments. Oversee collection, assimilation, and management of data for engineering work; lead smaller production teams; and serve as the responsible charge for a project. Assist with identification of key client interests and drivers on less complex projects. Communicate client interests and drivers to project team members and develops approaches to accommodate these concerns in the performance of the work on less complex projects. Recognized as a technical specialist by the division having in-depth knowledge of an engineering process and/or of technical aspects of an industry. Design a complete project of moderately complex scope within an assigned practice area(s). Assist with performance management process, mentoring, recognition, and any corrective actions required.
