Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related, and three years of related experience, or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related, and five years of related experience.
  • Must have experience managing EPC projects, including risk management.
  • Must have experience with negotiating contracts with clients and subcontractors in the energy utility industry.
  • Must have experience with managing construction teams directly in both a direct-hire or subcontract construction environment.
  • Must have experience with combined cycle or simple cycle power generation market.
  • Must have experience with leading larger production teams, coordinating multiple discipline activity, and serving as the responsible charge for a project.
  • Must have experience with ProjectWise, PowerBI, MS office suite, BIC, Naviswork, Salesforce, Primavera P6, and Autocad.
  • Requires travel to project locations up to 100% of the time.
  • Position is eligible for remote work.
  • Must be willing to work 50-60 hours a week.
  • Must have good written and verbal communications skills in English.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of small to medium Advanced Power Generation (APG) Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) projects, including risk to cost, schedule, environmental, safety, quality, and commissioning.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day successful execution of contracted engineering, procurement, and construction scope in the areas of performance, financial metrics, planning, schedule, quality, contractual compliance, safety, and client satisfaction of APG projects.
  • Prepare a variety of complex managerial and engineering deliverables.
  • Oversee and mentor a multi-discipline team including field engineers, construction managers, project controllers and schedulers.
  • Provide oversight of the review, revision, quality check and approval of geotechnical, hydrological studies and permits, cable sizing and material, specification and datasheet development, mechanical and grounding system, test analysis, and capacity and site energizing engineering deliverables.
  • Provide oversight of technical bid packages, performing bid evaluations, reviewing manufacturer and contractor proposals, and developing inspection test plans and plan site execution using management tools (Power BI, Tempus, etc.).
  • Provide oversight of construction document package including project scope, specification, layout, construction drawings, schedule, and execution plan.
  • Maintain a site presence to support safety, quality, and construction.
  • Plan and provide for the successful staffing of the project.
  • Coordinate and integrate the activities with client and internal cross functional teams associated with the engineering, procurement, construction, and startup elements of the project team, including the activities of all third-party companies contributing to the initiative.
  • Oversee Engineering Manager, Projects Control Manager, Procurement Manager, and Engineers.
  • Oversee business development and EPC project pursuit activities.
  • Lead development of EPC project pursuits, coordinating with the key stakeholders to ensure process implementation throughout the effort.
  • Serve as the key resource for executive management advisory on overall project health.
  • Oversee planning, developing, issuing, and progress tracking of all assigned projects from contract execution through commercial operation.
  • Provide input for the successful staffing of the project.
  • No hire / fire authority.
