About The Position

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. The Staff Psychologist provides professional psychologist services in Comprehensive Weight Management Program as a Behavioral Medicine provider within VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System facilities. The incumbent provides comprehensive behavioral and mental health services to Veterans served in inpatient and outpatient specialty medical care settings, as assigned, with an emphasis on clinical health psychology evaluation and time-limited interventions that are collaborative and well-coordinated. Major duties include, but may not be limited to:

Responsibilities

  • Provides a full range of mental and behavioral health interventions, including individual and group psychotherapy and psycho-education interventions.
  • Interviews patients, determines the type of assessment battery needed, conducts testing, interprets the results of testing and produces reports with conclusions and/or recommendations.
  • Uses new or experimental techniques consistent with accepted clinical trial procedures and ethical principles of care.
  • Presents informed reports or educates multi-disciplinary staff on the use of newly proven or evidence based interventions.
  • Consults with medical and/or mental health staff on the development or evaluation of mental and/or behavioral health intervention programs.
  • Provides comprehensive professional care documentation in the patient record system, adhering with timeliness standards for quality care.
  • Monitors patient's progress, determines when reassessment is appropriate and adjusts intervention plans accordingly.
  • Serves as a primary provider for Veterans in assigned clinical settings, including managing and coordinating treatment or care, based on clinical needs, and making referrals during treatment when clinically indicated.
