POSITION SUMMARY The Staff Psychologist would be a part of the Children's Treatment Centre (CTC) Diagnostic Services team, and responsible for the developmental diagnostic assessments of children and youth presenting with developmental concerns including but not limited to intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorder. This entails interviewing of clients and their families, the use of standardized psychological assessment measures, interpretation of diagnostic profiles, and communication of results/diagnosis in oral and written feedback to families. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Psychology from an accredited university (Essential)
  • Member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario (autonomous or supervised practice) or eligible for registration in Ontario (Essential)
  • Designated practice as a Psychologist in the area of Clinical Psychology (Essential)
  • Clinical experience in the assessment and intervention of children with developmental delays (Essential)
  • Knowledge of federal and provincial legislation and regulations, and MCSS standards and guidelines relevant to behavioural treatment (Essential)
  • Police Record Check (PRC) (Essential)
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle (Essential)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with adults with a global developmental disability (Preferred)
  • Experience working with individuals diagnosed with a Pervasive Developmental Disorder (Preferred)
  • Experience working on a multidisciplinary team (Preferred)
  • Supervision experience (Preferred)
  • Bilingualism (French and English) (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Administers and interprets a complete range of psychological tests for children 0-18 years of age including adaptive, cognitive and specific diagnostic measures used in a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder.
  • Clinical supervision/training of Psychologists with a certificate for supervised practice, Psychometrists, Psychology Residents
  • Provides consultation to other service providers and teams across the organization
  • Participates in public education and community services.
  • Participates in the CHEO’s community through committee membership and representation of psychology in an interdisciplinary setting.
  • Establishes basic and/or applied research programs in conjunction with the program and/or CHEO’s needs.
  • Establishes evaluative research programs for existing and new clinical programs.
  • Maintains confidentiality in accordance with organizational policies and procedures related to privacy.
  • Follows organizational policies and procedures related to safety, including reporting and follow-up for incidents/accidents and near misses, identification and management of risks and emergency procedures.
  • Follows routine precautions for infection prevention and control including proper hand hygiene.
  • Participates in education and improvement activities related to safety.
  • Follows standards of practice for the profession regarding safe application of assessment techniques and development of therapeutic or behaviour programs for clients, families and groups.
  • Receives training in safe and effective use of equipment, ensures that any equipment used with client is clean and in proper working order, reports any equipment in need of repair or maintenance.
  • Educates clients and their families and helps them understand their role in promoting safety.
