POSITION SUMMARY The youth advisor will work closely with relevant Knowledge Institute staff to enhance the Knowledge Institute’s provincial youth engagement initiatives. The youth advisor will participate in the development, delivery and evaluation of specific projects, bringing youth perspective and voice to strengthen youth engagement across all initiatives led by the Knowledge Institute.

Requirements

  • A minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of experience as an engaged young person (i.e., experience with youth-led organizing and/or youth engagement activities in an agency setting and/or demonstrated leadership in community initiatives) (Essential)
  • Knowledge of child and youth mental health (Essential)
  • Knowledge of youth engagement principles and practices (Essential)
  • Superior communication skills both verbal and written (Essential)
  • Strong collaborative approach and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders (Essential)
  • Strong project management and organizational skills (Essential)
  • Vulnerable Sector Check (Essential)

Nice To Haves

  • College Diploma or University Degree (Preferred)
  • Experience in program planning, research and evaluation is an asset (Preferred)
  • Advanced training in facilitation using virtual platforms (Preferred)
  • Bilingualism (English/French) (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Bring a youth perspective and voice to the development, delivery and evaluation of the suite of youth engagement supports for Ontario’s child and youth mental health sector
  • Support child and youth mental health partners interested in building their organization’s capacity for youth engagement.
  • Co-facilitate youth engagement support sessions and conference presentations related to the Knowledge Institute’s work in youth engagement as required.
  • Lead the Knowledge Institute’s youth advisory council work
  • Provide input on and contribute to the evaluation of the Knowledge Institute’s youth engagement-related activities.
  • Provide knowledge and support to integrate youth engagement practice across programs and services at the Knowledge Institute.
  • Work with staff to engage youth in the design, delivery and evaluation of the Knowledge Institute’s products and services.
  • Share new developments/trends in youth culture/youth engagement with the team (e.g. research, initiatives of partner organizations, relevant training opportunities etc.).
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by Manager.
  • Perform work in accordance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all CHEO corporate/departmental policies and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety.
