The Staff GL Accountant will perform moderately complex accounting activities relating to maintenance of complete and accurate general ledger accounts, financial statements, and managerial reports. This position creates journal entries, prepares internal management reports, and reconciles accounts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, or a bachelor's degree in business with an emphasis in accounting.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting related work is required
  • Good knowledge of US GAAP and willingness to research and resolve accounting applications.
  • Excellent Excel and analytical skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving and results
  • Must have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures
  • Flexible and enthusiastic
  • Self-motivated and able to handle and prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines
  • Self-starter and work with limited direction and taking full ownership of areas of responsibility
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to articulate key information
  • Initiative and willingness to take on additional responsibilities
  • Experience in SAP, Coupa and other similar ERP systems

  • CPA certification is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Ensure financial statement accuracy by reconciling account balances, creating journal entries, and reviewing financial reports within tight month-end deadlines.
  • Perform balance sheet and P&L fluctuation analysis
  • Create bank entries and reconcile statements
  • Maintain schedules and reconciliations for prepaid expenses and leases
  • Maintain the fixed asset and associated depreciation & amortization schedules
  • Reconcile accounts monthly or quarterly and resolve variances
  • Work closely with FP&A and other departments as needed to analyze expenses and develop accruals
  • Assist with interim and year-end audits
  • Ensure compliance with internal control requirements and policies and procedures.
  • Assist management with special projects and ad-hoc analysis.
  • Assist in the automation of accounting processes where applicable to roll out new, more efficient, controlled processes.
  • Provide customer service to internal and external customers who have questions related to accounting.
  • Help identify areas for process improvements and assist in implementing changes.
