About The Position

The General Ledger (GL) Accountant is responsible for maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger and financial statements. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of accounting principles and standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and reconciliation processes .

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required or Bachelor's degree in Finance with 10 years of GL experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in general ledger accounting or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP or IFRS) and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data.
  • Prepare and post journal entries for various transactions, including accruals, prepayments, and adjustments.
  • Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
  • Prepare financial statements and reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Assist with the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and explanations.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of accounting operations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure proper accounting and reporting of financial transactions.
  • Maintain accurate and organized accounting records and documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
