The Opportunity: The GL Accountant will work directly with the Sr. Accounting Manager and needs to demonstrate initiative and technical competence to handle duties related to the month-end closing, annual audit, financial reporting, reconciliations, and analysis for the Finance Department. The GL Accountant should enjoy a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Ability to manipulate large amounts of data in a complicated entity structure
  • Proven knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and FASB codification and pronouncements
  • Strong understanding of revenue recognition principles, ASC 606/IFRS 15, and related guidance.
  • Excellent communication skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Word and Excel skills (such as pivot tables, vlookup, and data analysis)

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with Engineering, Product, and FP&A to proactively identify, evaluate, and validate capitalizable internal-use software costs in accordance with ASC 350, including assessing project phases, capitalization start and stop points, and cost eligibility.
  • Own and maintain comprehensive internal-use software capitalization schedules with detailed project-level tracking, cost allocations, capitalization timing, in-service dates, and useful lives.
  • Prepare and record monthly software amortization entries, monitor for indicators of impairment, and perform impairment analyses as needed.
  • Ensure complete, accurate, and audit-ready documentation supporting capitalized software costs, including project approvals, cost substantiation, and capitalization memos, and serve as a key point of contact for internal and external audit inquiries related to software capitalization.
  • Perform monthly accounting close activities, including but not limited to performing GL account flux analyses, preparing account reconciliations, and preparing journal entries for commissions, internal software capitalization, fixed assets and other period-end adjustments.
  • Assist Sr. Accounting Manager in reviewing other team members’ accruals and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Support preparation and documentation of technical accounting memos in compliance with US GAAP.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors during the annual financial audit, including preparing supporting schedules and explanations.
  • Participate in ad hoc analyses and projects, including process improvements and automation initiatives.
  • Help maintain and strengthen internal controls over accounting processes and reporting.
  • Assist the company's quarterly and annual income tax provision under ASC 740, considering both current and deferred taxes. Collaborate with R&D, tax, finance, and accounting teams to gather necessary data for accurate calculations.
  • Support special projects and other accounting duties as appropriate.
  • Maintain and apply knowledge of US GAAP and possibly SEC reporting requirements.
