Staff Engineer I - Power BI Engineer
About The Position
As a Staff Engineer I embedded in the Enterprise Data & Analytics function, you will be responsible for delivery and operations of technologies and platforms required to model, transform, analyze, report, visualize data. As a Staff Engineer I, you'll work in a mid-level role with proficiency in one or more key products who is responsible for managing and supporting the organization's Data Analytics applications and tooling like Power BI/Fabric, Tableau. As a Staff Engineer I, you will partner with data analysts, business analysts, data engineers, report developers to set standards, enforce best practices, train and enable users using the Power BI platform. Take assignments that can be worked on individually without supervision and manage work effort from concept to completion. Build, optimize, automate and maintain the Power BI analytics platform, ensuring scalability, security, and performance. Implement data analytics principles aimed at business enablement, reliability practices and sound recovery procedures. Ensure compliance with IT policies, governance, procedures, and industry standards, including reviewing and refining IT control enhancements. Manage Power BI workspaces, gateways, datasets, support business teams with secure, efficient report publishing and data refresh strategies. Work closely with business and analytics teams to ensure reliable and governed data access for reporting and visualization. Troubleshoot platform issues, optimize performance, and ensure uptime for critical Power BI services. Stay current on emerging data analytics technologies, recommending enhancements to improve efficiency and governance.
Requirements
- 5+ years of related experience in data analytics roles which includes administration and development
- Bachelor's degree in related field required
- Hands-on experience managing and administering Power BI environments (Capacity management, User access management, gateways, Rest APIs, workspace configuration, DAX optimization, RBAC set up, Disaster Recovery)
- Hands-on experience with Power BI development (Semantic models, reporting and visualization, DAX)
- Understanding of Microsoft Azure data services, including Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Key Vault, Azure Monitor
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, and/or PySpark
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Azure Devops preferred)
- Advanced proven experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Intermediate to advanced ability to see the big picture and align projects with organizational goals
- Capable of leading and motivating cross-functional teams
- Expertise in resolving conflicts and addressing challenges as well as skilled at identifying and mitigating risks at the project level
- Advanced speaking and writing communication skills
Nice To Haves
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of general Financial Services or Banking preferred
