About The Position

The North Carolina Office of the State Auditor (OSA) is your fiscal watchdog. We audit more than $100 billion in state assets and liabilities each year, bringing transparency to local, state, and federal government. Our reports and findings include recommendations that result in good government reforms. OSA thoroughly investigates alleged cases of fraud, waste, and abuse of taxpayer dollars, working with law enforcement on prosecution when warranted. As of the date of this initial posting, this position is considered subject to the North Carolina Human Resources Act. However, it is our intention that this position will be designated as exempt from the North Carolina Human Resources Act prior to employment. The Office of the State Auditor (OSA) is seeking a Staff Auditor I to serve within our Medicaid Audit Division. In this position, you will serve as an entry-level professional auditor who assists with Medicaid audits.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates an understanding of auditing standards
  • Ability to work cooperatively with audit team members and auditees
  • Ability to complete assigned work timely
  • A bachelor’s degree with 12 semester hours in accounting from an appropriately accredited institution OR An equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

  • Participate in audit planning meetings and discussions related to assigned Medicaid audits
  • Observe and assist in gaining an understanding of Medicaid programs, processes, and internal controls relevant to the audit objectives
  • Perform audit testing procedures designed by the Medicaid Audit team
  • Complete fieldwork as necessary
