About The Position

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the organization’s accounting operations by performing general ledger accounting, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and assisting with the monthly close process. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial data while supporting the accounting team with day-to-day financial operations. The Staff Accountant works collaboratively with departments across the organization to maintain strong financial controls, ensure compliance with company policies, and support timely financial reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related discipline or equivalent professional experience is required.
  • 1+ year accounting experience
  • Proficiency in Excel including pivot tables, formulas, and financial analysis.
  • Experience with ERP or accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, Sage, Oracle, Workday, or similar).
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism with confidential financial information.
  • High accountability and performance orientation

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with company accounting policies.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including preparing supporting schedules.
  • Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and audit trails for accounting transactions.
  • Assist with preparation of monthly financial reports and supporting schedules.
  • Support the accounting team in analyzing variances and financial trends.
  • Compile financial data for internal leadership reporting.
  • Review expense coding for accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Assist with fixed asset tracking and depreciation schedules.
  • Prepare documentation and schedules required for external audits, internal audits, and tax filings.
  • Ensure compliance with company financial policies and internal controls.
  • Assist in maintaining strong accounting processes and documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows and reporting processes.
  • Assist with implementation or optimization of accounting systems and financial reporting tools.
  • Support special projects and financial initiatives as assigned.
