We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our growing startup finance team. This role offers broad exposure across general accounting, NetSuite, accounts payable, audit and tax support, and is ideal for a CPA candidate or licensed CPA looking to deepen hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA candidate (actively pursuing) or active CPA license preferred
  • 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a startup, technology, or manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and month-end close processes
  • Hands-on experience with NetSuite (required); advanced users strongly preferred
  • Experience with accounts payable, vendor management, and payment processing
  • Inventory and COGS accounting experience is a plus
  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, formulas); experience with Google Sheets a plus
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize competing deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced startup environment
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to revenue recognition (ASC 606)
  • Experience improving accounting processes or system implementations
  • Prior public accounting experience

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
  • Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, payroll, inventory, and fixed assets
  • Assist with balance sheet account reconciliations and timely resolution of variances
  • Reconcile bank statements, cash-in-transit, and credit card statements
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal accounting controls
  • Perform daily accounting activities in NetSuite
  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger and related subledgers
  • Use saved searches, standard reports, and dashboards to support analysis and close
  • Assist with NetSuite enhancements, testing, and process improvements
  • Support integration and use of NetSuite modules, including Accounts Payable, Inventory, and Manufacturing
  • Review and process vendor invoices, ensuring proper PO, receipt, and invoice matching
  • Ensure accurate coding, approvals, and posting in NetSuite
  • Manage vendor relationships and resolve invoice or payment discrepancies
  • Support payment runs, including ACH, checks, and wire transfers
  • Assist with annual 1099 preparation and reporting
  • Prepare schedules, reconciliations, and documentation for external auditors
  • Support internal controls, process documentation, and audit requests
  • Support with federal, state, and local tax filings
  • Assist with ad hoc accounting projects as the company scales
