About The Position

Louisiana State University of Alexandria is a publicly supported institution that provides undergraduate level college education to the citizens of Central Louisiana. The university is a unit of the LSU System and operates under the auspices of the Louisiana Board of Regents. LSUA is located in Rapides Parish.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience within an Accounting, Finance or Business related field.
  • Must possess a working understanding of proper cash handling procedures.
  • Must be able to multitask and meet strict deadlines in a timely manner.
  • Detailed oriented with the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent customer service as well as verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge and direct experience with the Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer competency are required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and direct experience with QuickBooks and Workday preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with multiple constituencies, both internal and external to an organization.

Responsibilities

  • Review daily payment reports for accuracy and completeness, notifying the cashiering team of any errors in a timely manner.
  • Verify and prepare daily deposits to be picked up by armored car each Friday, documenting deposit amounts on risk exposure report.
  • Audit student refunds weekly and process payments within two weeks of financial aid disbursements.
  • Maintain petty cash for the University including cash advances to departments, issuing checks for agency accounts and third-party reimbursements, and requesting change orders to ensure enough currency is available at all times.
  • Notify armored car company for change of pick-up dates (Campus Holidays, closings due to weather, etc.)
  • Prepare monthly petty cash reports to submit to LSU for reimbursement.
  • Process all invoices in Workday in a timely manner.
  • Answer Accounting Service’s emails, addressing students in a helpful and cordial manner.
  • Support the Assistant Director of Bursar Operations with applying/removing bursar holds, adjusting tuition and fees on an as needed basis, and reviewing completeness and accuracy of student accounts.
  • Work with Assistant Director of Bursar Operations to develop communication strategies to keep students informed regarding their student accounts.
  • Assist at the cashiering window as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
