Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Finance, or related field and 1-3 years of accounting and/or finance experience, preferably in development or residential property management, assisted and/or independent living or public accounting; or comparable combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and general ledger applications.
  • Ability to approach role and responsibilities from a foundation of customer service, teamwork and partnership.
  • Ability to apply reason, logic, and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve complex issues.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and detail orientation.
  • Ability to independently interpret data, formulate models, draw conclusions and make recommendations based on those conclusions.
  • Ability to work in a professional environment holding information and data confidential as necessary.
  • Excellent written communication skills including proper grammar and professional writing.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with and present information to associates at all levels and a wide range of business partners.
  • Ability to work with strict deadlines in a high volume and fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA and/or MBA preferred; or comparable combination of education, experience, and certification.
  • Experience working with Yardi Voyager accounting software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a partner to internal and external business teams by providing qualitative and quantitative accounting/financial oversight, supporting the shared responsibility of upholding the financial health and wellbeing of a portfolio of communities, joint venture, fund, and/or investor entities.
  • Conduct various day-to-day accounting functions in support of the portfolio accounting team.
  • Maintain assigned monthly workpaper reconciliations: identifying, researching, and resolving problematic transactions.
  • Conduct expense review, recommending and posting journal entries.
  • Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable oversight.
  • Assist in month-end close responsibilities in accordance with established closing timelines.
  • Save monthly bank statements and prepare assigned Bank Reconciliations.
  • Prepares monthly reporting packages for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare weekly cash requirement reports and posts necessary bank activity (NSF’s, bank fees, etc.).
  • Support the year-end audit process, to include gathering PBC requirements, preparing work papers, financial statements, and audit packages.
  • Maintain and review monthly workpapers, perform reconciliations, review GL data, post journal entries.
  • Prepare, analyze, and participate in the presentation of detailed monthly performance summaries to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Compile and analyze complex financial data, recognize trends, anticipate results, resolve issues, investigate, and generate potential solutions and make recommendations.
  • Proactively work to create strong professional relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Participate in annual budgets and forecasts using financial modeling to provide quality assumptions for corporate-controlled expenses and financial/accounting support to community partners.
  • Maintain culture of continuous improvement, always contemplating how organizational processes can be improved to work smarter, making recommendations to Accounting Manager, Controller and/or other members of leadership.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with various staff members to obtain information to complete all required analysis and reports.
  • Efficiently execute/oversee monthly, quarterly and ad hoc reporting.
  • Lead and/or participate in special projects and initiatives as needed.
  • Communicate positively and proactively with operating teams to ensure timely notice and resolution of potential issues and to foster effective partnerships.
