About The Position

We’re looking for a Staff Accountant to join our growing Finance team and help build the processes, structure, and systems that will scale with us. You’ll report into our Controller and partner closely with teams across the company, as well as our external partners, taking on meaningful work that supports a mission-driven organization. Requirements

  • Must have at least 2 years of experience in corporate finance or accounting with extensive experience managing accounts receivable and accounts payable
  • Experience working at companies with $20M+ in annual revenue is required
  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field
  • Proficiency in Quickbooks, Expensify, PEO, vendor management systems (such as Coupa, Bill.com, Tungsten Network)
  • Exceptional organizational skills, detail-oriented mindset, and a high sense of urgency in working towards deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (including xlookups, concatenate, pivot tables, and sumifs), Adobe Acrobat, and Google Sheets
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Accounts receivable management, including monthly customer invoicing, payment application, and assistance with customer communication regarding financial matters
  • Review vendor invoices for proper approval and supporting documentation, and support accounts payable function
  • Maintain financial reports, records, and general ledger activity, prepare and review account reconciliations, and perform operating expense and cost analyses
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities, including preparing assigned journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations, and maintaining key operational and management accounts
  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure accurate expense coding and appropriate vendor setup/classification
  • Perform mid-level general ledger reconciliations, reporting, and data validation to provide insights that support management decision-making and company objectives
  • Help automate and streamline close processes to improve efficiency and controls
  • Assist with sales tax filings, income tax reporting, and other tax-related tasks as needed
  • Maintain and improve financial documentation and reporting standards
  • Identify operational efficiencies and implement solutions when possible
  • Contribute to ad-hoc projects that support the Finance team and company goals
  • Build upon team and company culture and act as a champion of the Chicory Principles
